Recertification

Effective January 1, 2011, all independent Dealer-Operators are required to recertify their license every three (3) years. In cooperation with the Virginia Motor Vehicle Dealer Board (MVDB), the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealers Association (VIADA) offers an online course to meet the recertification requirements.

The course focuses on enacted laws and regulations as well as current best practices for dealerships.

A Dealer-Operator can recertify up to six (6) months prior to the deadline date listed on the letter received from the MVDB and still have it count towards their MVDB recertification requirements. The course must be completed by the license expiration date.

Upon completion of the course, a certificate is awarded. The fee includes a $25 MVDB registration fee that VIADA submits to them. VIADA also notifies them when you have completed your recertification requirement.
