The VIADA Ladies Auxiliary was founded in 1980 by Ida Blair and Shirlie Slack with one simple mission—to support VIADA and give back to communities across Virginia. After becoming a nonprofit organization, the Auxiliary’s first charitable donation was made to the Ronald McDonald House, beginning a long tradition of supporting worthy causes.
Like many organizations, we started with limited resources. Annual dues were just $10, so fundraising quickly became a priority. Through the generosity of Virginia’s independent dealers and auto auctions, we launched our first vehicle auctions, with dealers donating vehicles and auctions donating their services. Those efforts laid the foundation for what has become one of our most successful and enjoyable traditions—the convention auctions—which continue to grow each year.
The Auxiliary has become the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealer Charity Fund (VIADCF) and proudly lives by its motto, “Helping Hands.” We provide meaningful support to charitable organizations throughout Virginia, sponsor the Fill-A-Wish Program for children with special needs ages 18 and under, and award a $5,000 scholarship each year to a student of a member of the VIADA family.
We are proud of how far we’ve come, grateful to everyone who has supported our mission, and excited to continue making a difference for years to come.
Scholarship and Fill-A-Wish applications, donation options, and full program details are available on the Fund’s own website.
